Welcome to my page; below is a timeline of my professional work and life. I have created this online platform to enable more of you to get to know me.
Professionally I am an athlete. I like to push the boundaries and see what I am truly capable of achieving. My passion is passing on the knowledge I have gained.
I have been an established coach for over 15 years, teaching gymnastics and calisthenics classes, plus running activity days during school holidays.
I started gymnastics when I was 4, fell in love with trying new things and was forever upside down. When I look back at my gymnastics career, I know now that I could have done more, but my mindset was very different. I competed for my Club and attended many competitions, but only scratching the surface level of achieving the basic skills to perform.
My growth as a gymnast plateaued at age 14 and my training slowly stopped. I then worked towards and achieved my coaching qualifications, progressing into a coaching role! I then found my spark and passion for teaching.
Gymnastics is a very disciplined sport. Every gymnast must conform to the same box and perform under high pressure to achieve the perfect score. Unfortunately, this limits the potential for those who enjoy the sport and want to continue progressing.
Agreed, Gymnastics has taught me everything I know technically. However, it’s only after finding freestyle sports and alternative training styles like Calisthenics, Parkour, Circus and Aerial that I see the different avenues you can follow.
And that's what I love about freestyle!
Your movements are relatively unrestricted. You don’t have to point your toes for points; you can flex your feet to add individual style. Knowing I can attempt skills without the need for perfection motivated me to start working on myself again. So, at the age of 25, I started training and set a goal of 2 skills that I had always wanted to do but never achieved. To be able to Handstand and Back Flip. When I first attempted these new skills, my technique was not perfect, but these have been accomplished over time and with practice.
Knowing the journey it takes, I am passionate about the skills I have acquired and showing others how achievable it can be with the right training and mindset. We are all unique, it's just recognising that we are capable of so much more. Wherever I am in the world, I am always teaching someone something, I can't help myself. I love influencing and helping others to see their potential and planting seeds to help them grow on their journey.
Over the past 5 years, I have been posting about my progress on Social media @KWOOLLEYONE. I have had some exciting opportunities, from professional shoots to working with different brands on advertising campaigns. Check out my Portfolio for more.
In 2018 I was invited to my first freestyle Calisthenics competition, held in Strasbourg, France. I learnt a lot, and I placed 2nd. Following this, I returned to London for a few other competitions I had lined up. However, one of my most significant achievements was in October 2019, when I travelled to Miami, Florida, for the first ever UFCL female Calisthenics Championship. In this competition, I won and took home 1st place. I gained so much from this experience and made valuable connections with athletes and Calisthenics communities worldwide.
Since then, I have grown as an athlete and as an individual. Through my journey, I am now confident enough to step out of my comfort zone and aim to try and experience as much as possible.
Through covid, it gave me time to experiment with other sports like Parkour which led me outside to explore more urban environments. Learning new ways to move, attempting tricks on concrete and even further by taking tricks to different heights. Whilst we are on the subject of heights, I just wanted to mention that I have started testing the waters with Cliff Diving / Jumping recently, which has been super challenging and fun all at the same time. We travel the UK and discover some awesome spots whilst wild camping. But that's a whole other story that has only just started.
It's been growth, with some exciting progress. I have overcome a lot and will always continue to strive for more. I am forever pushing myself physically and mentally to seek new experiences and to find out what more I am truly capable of achieving. I’m not sure if we ever really know what’s coming next. I am just enjoying going with the flow of life.
Follow my journey and stay up to date.
